Finance/Chief Financial Officers

The Jacob Goodstein Fiscal Management Job Track is designed for anyone whose primary responsibility is oversight of the accounting and finance functions at the JCC. The job track offers financial professionals the opportunity to share struggles and successes, make connections and learn what is happening at other JCCs and in the general accounting management arena. Sessions will be geared toward to the day-to day-work done at your JCC. Come prepared to share and learn!

bob-kimsalFinance Job Track Leader: Bob Kimsal, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Responsible for overseeing JCC Association’s accounting, finance, human resources and information technology activities. These include production of the annual operating budget; interim financial reporting; annual audit; hiring, orientation and employee evaluation; billing and collection of member JCC dues; acquisition and deployment of technology, including computer hardware and software; office administration including document production and distribution.

Session Title #1: Nuts & Bolts
Speaker: Bob Kimsal, 
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, JCC Association
Description #1: Attendees share what they are struggling with day to day, what things they have found to be successful, and what they would like to know about to improve their JCC.

Session Title #2: Creating a Culture of Data Based Decision Making (Joint Session with IT Job Track)
Speakers:  Hilda Polanco, President of Fiscal Management Associates, and Kim Snyder, Vice President of Data Strategy, RoundTable Technology

Description: Hilda Polanco, president of Fiscal Management Associates, and  Kim Snyder, vice president of Data Strategy, RoundTable Technology will focus on connecting the dots between an organization’s theory of change and the data needed to provide evidence of intended outcomes, development of systems to track the appropriate data, integration of systems to increase access to the data, and creating a culture of analysis and sharing to support key decision making.

Session Title #3: Toward Financial Resilience!
Speakers:  Hilda Polanco, President of Fiscal Management Associates, and Kim Snyder, Vice President of Data Strategy, RoundTable Technology
Description: Financially resilient organizations are able to successfully navigate current challenges as well as maximize opportunities in the long-term. In this session, we will introduce the concept of financial resilience for nonprofits, define the key values and practices characteristic to financially resilient organizations, and explore how you can chart your path in achieving greater financial resilience.

Session Title #4: Turning Data into Information: One JCC’s story
Speaker: Daniel Norber, Chief Data Officer, Redwoods 

Description: JCCs all over North America are trying to figure out how to better collect and use data to communicate important information. Dan Norber, chief data officer at the Redwoods will be working with a JCC to resolve this issue. This session will recount their experience.

Session Title #5: JResponse— Bringing the JCC Field to JCCs in Need
Description: For 30 minutes, this session will focus on preparing for disaster. The rest of the time will be a facilitated discussion about what might be needed at your JCC in your department if you were faced with a disaster and how might you be able to help another JCC if it were faced with a disaster. What do you currently have in place at your JCC or in your department to be ready for such a situation? What do you need to do to ramp up and be as ready as possible?
